We are sometimes asked by IT departments about the amount of bandwidth a controller and software will use on a network when communicating and sending events.

The packet data between VP and a controller is very small.

Polling is used for communication with each poll being 173 bytes in size.

Every 0.5 sec VantagePoint software sends 27 bytes of command data to a VC controller and the VC controller responds with 173 bytes data to back to VantagePoint.

Example:

If we have are 10 VC controllers on the network the total packet data size is around 270 bytes for the data request command and 1730 bytes for the response data.
