How to upgrade VP Express to VP Enterprise

Introduction

This guide will show you the necessary steps to upgrade to VP enterprise from VP Express.

1. Before attempting an upgrade of VP Express you should make a backup of the VantagePoint database.

You can follow this guide here to backup the  VantagePoint database using Microsoft SQL Management.

There is also a guide here to help you restore the VantagePoint DB if needed.

2. Open VantagePoint, at the login screen click onto the Database Tab.

Make a note of the following:

Note:

           If when VantagePoint was installed you used our silent SQL server install the password will be: Password12341

If the SQL server was provided by  the customer please consult them for the password.

3. After backing up your database navigate to the PC’s control panel and arrange the control panel as category view. From  here click on Uninstall a program

4. Navigate to the VantagePoint Express install.

Highlight the install and then click onto uninstall answering yes to the prompt that follows.

Allow VantagePoint to fully uninstall, after the uninstall has finished reboot the PC

5. Once the PC has rebooted download VantagePoint Enterprise from here


6. Unzip the VantagePoint Enterprise install files and run the Setup.exe running through the install wizard with the defaults


7. Start VantagePoint, you will see a challenge code:

Copy this code down and send to Sensor Access.

Note

It will normally take up to 1 working day for Sensor Access to process the license activation code

8. Once you have received the Activation code from Sensor Access copy and paste it into the area provided and then click Activation

9. Once activated you will see the login screen.

           Click onto the  Database tab and enter the SQL server details you saved from step 1:

Click onto connection test, if all goes well you will see a successful connection.

10. Click onto the login tab and enter your username and password [default is admin:admin]
