VMS HTTPS Server

The Sensor Access Visitor Management(VMS) System defaults to run on HTTPS - (A protocol to secure communications between the client browser and VMS)

HTTPS uses public key cryptography to establish trust between both parties. You must install and trust Sensor Access's own certificate to remove any untrusted warnings which will occur when connecting to the VMS from a fresh machine.

Download the Sensor Access Root Certificate here: Sensor Access Certificate

Double click on the file and install (See screen shot below)

HTTPS Client Authentication/Bi-laterial

Sensor Access recommends using client certificate authentication to ensure only trusted clients can connect to the VMS.

Sensor Access can provide you with a client certificate. Client certificates are sent as PKCS12 files (*.p12) and are installed into the client machine/browser as follows:

On Windows:

  1. Open the "Windows Settings" app and navigate to "Update & Security" -> "Windows Security" -> "Firewall & network protection".
  2. Click on "Advanced settings" -> "Certificates" -> "Trusted Root Certification Authorities" -> "Certificates".
  3. Click "Import" and browse to the location where you saved the certificate file.
  4. Follow the prompts to complete the installation process.

On Android:

  1. Open the "Settings" app and navigate to "Security" -> "Install from storage".
  2. Browse to the location where you saved the certificate file and tap on it.
  3. Follow the prompts to complete the installation process.

On iOS:

  1. Open the email that contains the certificate file and tap on the attachment.
  2. Tap on "Install" and enter your device passcode if prompted.
  3. Follow the prompts to complete the installation process.

Alternatively, on iOS, you can also install a certificate by going to "Settings" -> "General" -> "Profile" and tapping on the certificate file to install it.

  1. Verify the installation: After installing the certificate, it is important to verify that it was installed correctly. This can typically be done by visiting a website that requires SSL/TLS and ensuring that the site is now accessible without any security warnings or errors.
