Firstly Ensure the GuardPoint10 software is not running including AcsNMService

Determine the IP address of the controller.

1. PING:

you should get a reply, if you do not speak to the network manager you may need to set a different IP address

2. TELNET

Telnet is a windows application which can be use to determine if there is a firewall blocking the connection to the controller port.

This must be turned on in windows features:

To run telnet you must open windows command prompt:

after pressing return a successful connection would be a blank black screen:

otherwise you will get either a access denied or can not establish connection message

Check GP10 is not running check the port number, Disable any firewalls.

Once you are getting a blank black screen in telnet you then have determined your TCP/IP networking is correct.

The next step would be to check your Lantronix or tibbo adapter are setup correctly to allow the TCP/IP communication from the adapter to the controller.

See Tibbo Setup

or

See Lantronix setup
