Step-by-Step Migration Process

  1. Back Up Your Current Installation

    • Open GuardPoint10 on the current PC.

    • Go to Options > System & SQL > SQL Server Options.

    • Select Backup Database and Backup Journal.

    • These files are saved by default in your SQL Server’s Backup folder, typically located at:
      C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQLXX.GP10\MSSQL\Backup

  2. Copy the Backup Files

    • Copy the database and journal backup files from the old PC to a secure location on the new PC.

    • Optionally, copy the entire GuardPoint10 folder as a precaution.

  3. Install GuardPoint10 on the New Machine

    • Ensure the new PC meets the system requirements for GuardPoint10.

    • Install the same version of GuardPoint10 that was on the old PC.

  4. Install or Transfer Your License

    • You may need to request a new license from Sensor Access for the new machine.

    • Ensure the license is correctly applied before proceeding.

  5. Restore the Backup

    • On the new PC, open GuardPoint10.

    • Go to Options > System & SQL > SQL Server Options.

    • Choose Restore Database and Restore Journal, using the files you copied from the old machine.

Additional Notes

  • Before beginning the migration, it’s recommended to stop the ‘AcsNMService’ from the GuardPoint10 Watchdog to prevent missed events.

  • If you are only changing the machine name (not the physical PC), you still need to:

    • Back up the databases.

    • Uninstall GuardPoint10.

    • Reinstall it with the new machine name.

    • Restore the databases.
